Don’t Step Into My Light: A rocking little number that opens most Guvnor shows. It is a rant against ‘musicians’ who only want to play covers!
Little Man: Apparently attributed to a drummer who once played for the band and who lacked stature in more ways than one!
Naked In The Rain: All things, good and bad, come to an end, and sometimes its necessary to strip life down to the bare bones in order to move on – except sometimes you can’t! Very profound!!!
Teesside Son: A tongue in cheek story of a lad from the Boro – nobody from Weedspell I hasten to add!
Dog Star: A rather serious song, relating to Combat Stress Disorder.
I See You: Time to sing along folks. All about getting your leg over as and when you can. We can all relate to that!
How Judas Felt: One for the R & B purists. Straight forward blues rocker about paying for sex from a hooker called Miss Spelt, because you ain’t getting any at home.
Old Toulouse: A rock ballad about a talented artist who can only paint his lost love...ahh!!! Incidentally we asked Stu where the quay was, as Toulouse is miles from the sea. Appears he got Toulouse and Boulougne confused, however Old Boulougne doesn’t really have the same ring to it! Zammo stepped in and claimed it was written about Toulouse, New Orleans....yeah we believe ya lads!
Vanity: I understand this is the sequel to Teesside Son. It is all about a lass from the Boro who has fallen from grace.
The Martyr: Seven and a half minutes of solid rock guitar and tear jerking lyrics. It is the true story of a relative of one of the band.
Requiem: Stu grew up with Mick Ronsons guitar work, ringing in his ears, as he played for Bowie and the Spiders From Mars. The sad demise of Mick at an early age prompted this atmospheric tribute. RIP Mick – hope you can hear it wherever you are.
Santorini Nights: A love song. Santorini is a small Greek island famous for its spectacular sunsets. The Hook Bar mentioned in the lyrics does exist. It is a rock music establishment in Kamari. If you ever visit it ask them to play Santorini Nights – we sent them the first copy off the press!!
