THOSE WHO HAVE COME AND GONE - Who Loves Ya Baby?

Colin 'Horden Pitt' Jones, 2006 & 2008

Colin Jones: Always introduced as ‘Horden Pitt’ on stage, Colin is a born performer. The kilt and bovver boots were his trademark, but don’t think he was all show and no ability. He played a mean bass guitar. We loved having him around, if only he had not been such a sensitive soul! Not sure what he is doing musically at present, but whatever it is we are sure he would grace any stage and we wish him all the best.

Alan 'Big Al' Watts - 2002 - 2008

Big Al Watts: Any band would be hard pushed to find a member as good as this guy. Big Al joined after the Defendants morphed into Guvnor in 2001. He worked exceptionally hard both musically and doing a lot of the running of the band in the early years, including taking care of most of the bookings. Al played lead guitar until a change of personnel in 2007 meant he switched to bass. All the bass work on the Judas album is down to him. It was quite a surprise when he left the band in early 2008 but all good things come to an end. Zammo and Stu still see Al at the Darlington Football Club most home games and needless to say they wish him all the best for the future.

Porky, 1999-2004, 2006-2007

Paul ‘Porky’ Stephenson: Porky was drummer with the band right through from the days of the Defendants until he left at Christmas 2007. During that time he missed only one gig. He originally made his name with Major Accident and certainly his style of punk drumming was very influential in the way Guvnor reworked covers. We believe he is playing for another Darlington based band but don’t know the name. In any event we wish him all the best for the future, and Stu says Porky still owes him a pint!!

Steve Meredith - 2007

Steve Meredith: A Billingham boy through and through, Steve joined Guvnor during one of our darker periods and never really had a fair crack of the whip. A nicer guy you would not meet, Steve always had a smile on his face. He played guitar on Vanity, and was responsible for the catchy little riff during the verses. I believe Steve is still gigging with a local covers band.

Kev Fitzpatrick, 1999 - 2002, 2005

Kevin Fitzpatrick: Kev is some kinda guy. He was in The Defendants and in Guvnor twice at various times. Always introduced as ‘Baldy Spice’ on stage, his sense of humour was boundless. Unfortunately he had too much going on elsewhere in his busy life to make the commitment that playing for Guvnor demanded. Still a good mate of the bands and always welcome at gigs – especially if he buys the beers!

Mick 'LM' Taylor, 2004

Mick Taylor: Ex drummer from Mixed Nuts. Mick came in for one gig, decided he didn’t like us, told us what he thought and left. The whole experience left a bitter taste in the mouth. The band wish him well and thank him for the inspiration for one of GuvNors main live numbers. Enough said!

Gordon Larkman, 2004

Gordon Larkman: Gordon joined the band in 2004 when Porky decided to take his sabatical, but no sooner had we started the practice sessions, Gordon departed to tour Europe with Martin Stephenson. A world class drummer, Gordon is always in demand. For you older ones out there, Gordon started out with "MYND" seminal North East prog rock band in the 70's.

Chris Watkins, 2001- 2002 Chris Watkins: came to Guvnor after spending a few years trying to get punters to slash their wrists in the trad. Blues band Calico Joe. He was quite an accomplished slide guitarist but he never really settled with us and soon left to become one of the Travellin’ Wheelbarrows. I believe he is still gigging.

and the rest:

Colin Stephenson: Played bass with Guvnor for a few months and was actually nobodys fool when it came to knowing his way around the fret board. Left when he couldn’t balance the needs of his ex girlfriend with the commitments of the band. The lads last bumped into him working in a video production studio in Darlington when Guvnor were recording the ‘As Was’ DVD.

Duncan Barley: Played keyboards in the really early days. A little unfortunate for Dunc's, the bands movement away from the pub covers scene into the more rock/punk originals areana. It was kinda the death of having keys in the band. Always had a good story to tell, and a huge garage to practice in.
